It was our first time in Jamaica, and we\u2019d gone back and forth before booking. Was it worth the price? Was it safe? Would the resort live up to the glowing reviews? After reading countless posts online, checking hurricane season dates, and weighing if it fit our budget, we finally decided to go. Spoiler: it exceeded our expectations on nearly every front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Couples Swept Away is part of the Couples Resorts brand, known for tailoring to adults, romance, and honeymoon-style getaways. We weren\u2019t on our honeymoon, but we wanted something quiet, relaxing, and warm \u2014 this checked all the boxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"eg-widget\" data-widget=\"search\" data-program=\"us-expedia\" data-lobs=\"stays,flights\" data-network=\"pz\" data-camref=\"1100l4a7z2\" data-pubref=\"\"><\/div>\n<script class=\"eg-widgets-script\" src=\"https:\/\/creator.expediagroup.com\/products\/widgets\/assets\/eg-widgets.js\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First Impressions: A Warm Jamaican Welcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We knew Canada had travel advisories in place for Jamaica, so we landed with some nerves. But once we arrived at&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbjairport.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay<\/a><\/strong>, those worries started to ease. The airport was modern and air-conditioned (a welcome relief after the tropical heat), and the staff were genuinely friendly. After checking in at the&nbsp;Couples Lounge, we were offered drinks and snacks while we waited for our transfer. Within about 25 minutes, we were on a bus heading to Negril. Just a quick note: while tips aren\u2019t mandatory, it\u2019s common courtesy to tip the staff who bring your bags to the bus and the driver once you arrive at the resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bus ride itself takes about 1.5 hours, following the scenic oceanside road through towns like&nbsp;Lucea, Hopewell, and Sandy Bay. Honestly, it felt long, but it also gave us our first look at Jamaica outside the resort bubble. Welcome champagne? Check. Smooth check-in? Check. Our bags carried to our room while we were personally escorted? Check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;room itself was beautiful&nbsp;\u2014 spotless, spacious, and well-stocked with everything from beer, wine, rum, and soda to plenty of water. The d\u00e9cor felt fresh, the air conditioning worked like a dream (a lifesaver in 38\u00b0C heat), and the oversized balcony became one of our favourite spots to unwind after a day on the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing to note: Couples Swept Away is spread across a fairly large property with no elevators. That wasn\u2019t an issue for us, but it\u2019s worth keeping in mind if stairs are a concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" data-effect=\"slide\" class=\"wp-block-spacer is-style-wide\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seven Mile Beach: A Slice of Paradise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This resort sits right on&nbsp;Seven Mile Beach, one of the most famous beaches in Jamaica \u2014 and for good reason. Crystal-clear turquoise water, soft white sand, and endless sunshine made every beach day magical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only drawback? Vendors. Even during shoulder season, we noticed a few. Some were pushy, but a polite \u201cno thank you\u201d was enough to keep things moving. Couples also has security who ensure guests aren\u2019t bothered if they don\u2019t want to be. Every meal impressed us \u2014 beautifully plated, full of flavor, and with enough variety to keep things exciting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lemongrass<\/strong>&nbsp;(Asian fusion) was one of our favorites, though it does require reservations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Feathers<\/strong>&nbsp;is the resort\u2019s steakhouse, also reservation-only, and the menu is stacked with elevated dishes \u2014 think cuts of steak, lamb, and duck. A great option for a romantic, fine-dining evening.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Palms<\/strong>&nbsp;became our go-to for breakfast. Instead of room service, we preferred a full buffet spread here. The Palms serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, no reservations required, and the food leans more toward Jamaican flavors. Every meal here was fresh and genuinely tasty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scotch Bonnet<\/strong>&nbsp;was perfect for casual Jamaican fare, serving lunch until 5 p.m. and then reopening late at night (10:30 p.m.\u20135 a.m.) \u2014 ideal if you\u2019re craving a snack after drinks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the dining was a&nbsp;<strong>solid 9\/10<\/strong>&nbsp;for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
