What to Expect on Your Dive
The tour lasts about 4 hours and costs around $150 USD—and every second is worth it. Here’s how the experience unfolds:
- Arrival & Orientation:
- You’ll meet at Haleiwa Harbor on Oahu’s North Shore. Look for the small blue shack at the harbor—that’s One Ocean Diving’s check-in spot. It’s a cozy and welcoming space where you’ll begin your adventure. For easy navigation, use the map location below to guide you directly to the site. After check-in, the crew provides an engaging safety briefing and an educational overview about shark behavior and conservation.
- Boat Ride to Open Waters:
- Prepare for a scenic 3-mile boat ride into the open ocean—where the real adventure begins. If you’re prone to seasickness, it’s highly recommended to take motion sickness medication beforehand, as ocean swells can be quite strong. During our tour, the swells were notably large, causing some passengers to feel unwell, which is completely normal. The One Ocean Diving team is well-prepared for this and thoughtfully provides warm, damp face cloths infused with a soothing almond scent to help alleviate seasickness and keep guests comfortable throughout the journey.
- The Dive:
- Once the boat reaches the dive site, it’s time to get in the water. You’ll snorkel on the surface, floating above Galapagos and Sandbar sharks swimming gracefully below. No cages. No fear. Just pure exhilaration.
- Post-Dive Reflection:
- After the dive, the crew discusses shark conservation and answers any lingering questions. You’ll leave feeling empowered and enlightened.
Safety First—Always
Swimming with sharks might sound terrifying, but One Ocean Diving goes above and beyond to ensure guest safety. The crew constantly monitors shark behavior and ocean conditions, guiding participants throughout the dive. Plus, their deep knowledge and calm demeanor make you feel completely at ease.
